Upon reaching this stage, you will encounter two alternatives to choose from:
If you have previous experience with MetaMask and wish to import an existing wallet, you may select this option.
Whether or not you have prior familiarity with MetaMask, if you intend to create a fresh wallet, this is the option to proceed with.
For the purpose of this tutorial, we will opt for the "Create a Wallet" option.
During the process, you may come across a screen that asks whether you would like to send additional data. In this tutorial, we will select the option "No Thanks" to proceed.
Now, on the following screen, it is important to create a strong password and confirm it. Ensure that your password is robust and adhere to proper password management practices to ensure both security and avoid forgetting it. Additionally, please mark the checkbox indicating your agreement with the "Terms of Use." Finally, click the "Create" button to proceed.
The security of your MetaMask wallet holds immense significance. We highly recommend dedicating a few minutes to watch the video and carefully read about your Secret Recovery Phrase. This aspect is crucial not only for your wallet's security but also for the overall integrity of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Once you have completed this step, you may proceed by clicking the "Next" button.
Having gained an understanding of the significance of the Secret Recovery Phrase, you are now aware of the need to keep it confidential. To reveal your secret words, kindly click on the locked box.
Choose one of the various methods available to securely store your Secret Recovery Phrase. One simple approach is to obtain two pieces of paper and write down your secret words (in the correct order) on both of them. Once you have written down your secret words, you may proceed by clicking the "Next" button.
As a security measure to verify your familiarity with the Secret Recovery Phrase, you will be prompted to click on each word in the correct order. This step ensures that you have accurately stored and remember your Secret Recovery Phrase. Once you have successfully arranged the words in the correct order, you can proceed by clicking the "confirm" button, indicating that you have confirmed the existence of your Secret Recovery Phrase in a secure location.
Having successfully confirmed your Secret Recovery Phrase, it is now crucial to store your pieces of paper in two separate yet equally secure locations.
Congratulations! You have now successfully set up the MetaMask browser extension, and it is fully functional. To complete the process, you can click the "All Done" button.
Now, if we direct our attention to the upper right-hand corner, we can observe that it indicates the "Ethereum Mainnet".
The next needed step is to switch from Ethereum Mainnet to the Shimmer EVM Testnet.
